Conservation of Water Resources Around Rivers as an Effort to Empower the Community in Kalong Liud Village

Kalong Liud Village is one of the villages in Bogor Regency which is directly adjacent to the Cikaniki River. The Cikaniki River is the main source of water for the people of Kalong Liud Village. However, the pollution of river water due to the disposal of industrial waste and soil contours on the river bank that has a low slope can be a disaster for local communities who live near the river flow. Through disaster data from Kalong Liud Village, it was recorded that in 2020 the Cikaniki River overflowed and caused dozens of houses near the stream to be flooded. The overflow of river water is caused by the high intensity of rainfall for a long period of time, resulting in the damage of the water dam in Bongas Village, thereby increasing the river water discharge. Based on the condition of Kalong Liud Village obtained through a field survey, the PPK Ormawa Team of the Himpunan Mahasiswa Kimia (HIMASKA) FMIPA UNPAK carries out a water source conservation program. Water resource conservation using combined vegetative and agronomic methods is combined to maximize erosion control and surface flow of the Cikaniki River. Green ampel bamboo trees are used because they can improve the water quality of the Cikaniki River which is polluted by waste and bind the surrounding soil so that it can minimize erosion. The methods used include surveys, socialization and education, a series of program implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation. Starting from the first day of planting, young leaves grow from the book after 3 (three) weeks. Providing education and a scientific approach can increase public understanding and awareness about climate change that can cause flood disasters..
